Doing what I love with who I love.

Vulnerability (it’s hard for me to be vulnerable).

My Chef knives.

My tomboy style.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Knowing that the present moment is all we really have.

What inspired you and Courtney to start this endeavor?
To be able to bring our two passions together – yoga & food.
What two words best describe your cooking?
Balance and freshness.
What do you love most about cooking and/or running a restaurant?
Satisfying my customers’ hunger and giving them a nutritious meal
What do you find most challenging about it?
That you can never predict the flow of business – sometimes it’s busy; other times, not.
What has been your greatest lesson from cooking and running a restaurant?
You can not please everyone.
Would you share a Sunny Recipe with us?
They are like my babies – can’t share them – but remembering to balance sweet, salty, citrus and heat is the key to making good food.
When and where are you most inspired?
I am most inspired outdoors, away from town. I think more clearly and then can bring my realizations back to reality.
If you could inspire one change in yourself, what would it be?
Not to care about negative people.
If you could inspire one change in the world, what would it be?
To be more accepting of differences in reference to religion and sexuality.
Where do you look for inspiration in your daily life?
I look to other cooks. I follow so many on social media. It’s addictive!
Which historical figures have inspired you?
Walt Whitman and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Who are your living muses?
Chef Alice Waters and musician Ani Difranco.

What are you most passionate about?
Being honest and trying to be a positive person.
What has been your greatest life lesson?
Not everyone you love will love you back.
What breaks your heart for others?
When they cannot forgive.
How do you break your own heart?
Forgetting that “the moment” is of the most importance, not the past or the future.
What part of your story do you keep leaving out?
What has held you back from sharing it before?
Everyone has sadness; I try to move from it, not pull it out.
How can this part of your story inspire you and/or others?
To know that it is a “practice” to let go. Reminding yourself over and over again is hard, but letting go is the ultimate goal.
